#ResponsibleRegions – Eighth Dialogue
#ResponsibleRegions is a series of monthly webinars dealing with the concepts of the Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) and Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). EURADA and the TeRRItoria consortium are organising these webinars with the aim of sharing the valuable experience of Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) and local actors in developing and adapting strategies for regional development.
The eight event will take place on Thursday the 24th of June at 15:00 CEST. The topic of this event is “Can we measure the “wellbeing” of RIS with the dimensions of RRI and the MoRRI indicators?” and it will be illustrated by Lisbet Frey.
Quite often prerequisite to change is measuring the current situation. This applies to a change or transition we want to see in our personal lives or societal structures. The sustainability transition requires changes in all levels and aspects of the society. In order to achieve the future we want the society must adapt a more systemic ecosystem approach.
The Tampere Region begun to build a measurement system for sustainability based on Kate Raworth’s Doughnut economic model. They started to seek the correct indicators to measure the wellbeing of the society within the limits of the wellbeing of the biosphere the Tampere region begun to wonder: Could we measure the “wellbeing” of the research and innovation system through the RRI-dimensions? Could a responsible RIS enhance the sustainability transition and help to achieve the change we want to see? Would the MORRI-indicators be suited for this purpose? Is this the way to drive the sustainability transition forward responsibly towards S4+?
The event, moderated by Esteban Pelayo, Director of EURADA (the European Association of Development Agencies) will also include the participation of two panellists: Petros Podaras, Director of Innovation Center of Attica Region (ICAR); and Ingeborg Meijer – Senior Researcher at Centre for Science and Technology Studies.
