#ResponsibleRegions – Sixth Dialogue

#ResponsibleRegions is a series of monthly webinars dealing with the concepts of the Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) and Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). EURADA and the TeRRItoria consortium are organising these webinars with the aim of sharing the valuable experience of Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) and local actors in developing and adapting strategies for regional development.

The sixth event will take place on Thursday the 15th of April at 15:00 CET. The topic of this event is “Innovation Policy Labs: the example of smart grids in Valencia” and it will be illustrated by Sonia Tirado, General Director of Innovation from the Region of Valencia and Vicen Carbonell, an expert responsible for S3 in the same department. Smart Grids Lab is an initiative to address climate change launched by the regional government of Valencia to create business opportunities related to decarbonisation through the Entrepreneurial Discovery Process (EDP). It has successfully integrated all regional actors concerned, as well as producing results through a virtual power plant in industrial areas and the establishment of mechanisms for the sale of energy by prosumers. The goverement has established a clear methodology that will be extended to other industries (e.g. water management).

The event, moderated by Esteban Pelayo, Director of EURADA (the European Association of Development Agencies) will also include the participation of two panellists: Jerker Johnson, Coordinator of International Affairs for the Finnish Region of Ostrobothnia;  and Isabelle Seigneur, Project Officer in Energy and Innovation at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre – Territorial Development Unit
