What does the public expect from genome editing in life-sciences?

On the 11th of March 2021, from 14:00 to 16:00 CET, the online launch will take place of the results of public dialogues from the Horizon 2020 ORION project (Open Responsible research and Innovation to further Outstanding Knowledge). These dialogues aimed at exploring the public attitudes towards revolutionary genome editing technologies, when and how to engage audiences with these same emerging technologies as well as the different engagement strategies in different countries.

The event, titled “What does the public expect from genome editing in life-sciences?” will first explain ORION’s goals and an overview of its public dialogues on the subject.

After that, it will feature insights into the project’s findings regarding public attitudes towards genome editing, and a comparison of these results between the different countries in which dialogues were conducted: the Czech Republic, the UK, Germany, and Sweden.

The personal experiences of researchers who participated in the dialogues will also be put in perspective during the event, before taking conclusions about its findings and offering recommendations of other scientists and their organisations.
